Callouts

Good comms make or break a squad. This page covers how to build a callout and what to call out.

Build every callout from up to four parts, always in this order:

1
What
Multiple enemies · 2 enemies · Tank · Logi truck · TOW
2
Direction + distance
North-east close · South-west 100 m
3
Reference point
Objective · SL marker · Squad leader · HAB · BTR
4
Details
On SL 1 · Delta marker · next to the rock
Put together

“Enemy rally point, south-west close, of SL 8, on my C-marker”

✓Good
  • “Two enemies, north-east 100 m of the HAB, behind the red barn”
✕Useless
  • “Enemy on me!”
  • “On my left!”
  • “On your west!”

Say everything in the squad channel. These are the seven types of callout:

1Kills
Every kill. On a streak, give a total instead of spamming.
2Deaths
Every death, plus who killed you and where, so the squad can re-frag.
3Confirmations
Update an earlier call instead of repeating it.
4Spotting
Every enemy movement. Know what’s important and what’s obvious.
5Status
Tell your SL what’s happening, even “it’s clear”.
6Ideas
Suggest plays to your SL and wait for a yes.
7Merged comms
Combine types to say more in fewer words.
Radio log
  • squadRifleman“Got one on top of the train station.”
  • squadLAT“Minus two next to the BTR.”
  • squadGrenadier“Minus five on the enemy HAB.”

Always say what killed you and where, so your squad can kill that player.

Radio log
  • squadMedic“I’m down, two guys close north-west of the BTR, they are pushing.”
  • squadRifleman“I’m dead, MG is camping the HAB from the north hill.”

Keep comms consistent: reply to the call that’s already out there instead of starting a new one.

Radio log: a clean exchange
  • squadPlayer A“One enemy close west of the HAB.”
  • squadPlayer B“Minus one, close west of HAB.”
  • squadPlayer C“MG is still camping the rally from direct north.”
  • squadPlayer D“Minus MG north, rally is safe again.”
  • squadPlayer E“I’m down, I might have traded with the guy inside the HAB.”
  • squadMedic“Yes, you traded. Picking you up.”

Call out every enemy movement you see, but know what matters.

✓Important
  • “At least three guys pushing our HAB from the south.”
✕Obvious
  • “I think more of them are spawning at the HAB.”

Keep your SL updated, especially when guarding or scouting. “No enemies here” is information too. Give your status after key events (a death, wiping a rally) or every so often, without being asked.

Radio log
  • squadRifleman“Pushed up the south hill, completely clear. Stay or come back?”
  • squadMedic“We can’t hold the two-storey building with two guys, we’ll lose it soon, SL.”

Good game awareness means you’ll see chances your SL might not. Make sure the idea is solid and not a predictable move.

Radio log
  • squadLAT“South flank is completely clear, I can flank for their rally if you want.”
  • squadRifleman“Our rally is going to get wiped soon. Should I spawn at the HAB and grab the logi?”

Combine callout types to share more while talking less.

Kills + spotting

“They have a rally south of the cap, in the building on the move. Killed three there.”

Status + idea

“No one in the cap zone. I could dig their radio, no problem, if you want me to.”
