Medic: comms

A revive is a conversation. The medic decides who gets picked up, and good information on both sides decides whether the revive works.

1Direction of combat
Where is the enemy fire coming from?
2Surroundings
Is there cover: bushes, walls, dips in the ground?
3Player location
Who are you reviving, and where exactly are they?
How did you die?
A sniper needs a different approach from a grenade or a vehicle.
Where did you die from?
Tells you which direction you’ll be exposed to during the revive.
Are you safe to revive?
They can see their surroundings better than you can.
Do you want to be revived?
A HAT, vehicle crew, mortar player or commander may be more useful respawning somewhere else.

You are most vulnerable while reviving: your gun is down, the enemy can hear the revive, and you react slowly. So you run the situation.

Before you finish the revive, tell them
  1. 1Where to look

Which direction to cover as soon as they are up.

  2. 2Where to move

The cover to get to straight away.

  3. 3Smoke or grenade

Whether to pop smoke or throw a grenade first.

Medic on squad channel
  • squadMedic“Picking you up now. When you’re up, look west at the treeline and get behind the wall on your left.”
  • squadRifleman“Copy, west, wall on my left.”

Once the revive is done, focus on staying alive: the enemy now knows where you are.

Your revive depends on your comms. Give the medic everything up front, without waiting to be asked, using QDD:

Q · Quantity
How many enemies.
D · Direction
Where the fire or the enemy is.
D · Distance
How far away they are.
Downed player on squad channel
  • squadGrenadier“Down behind the barn. Two enemies, north-east, about 50 m. I’m safe to revive from the south side.”
✓Do
  • Give quantity, direction and distance straight away
  • Say whether you are safe to revive
  • Listen to the medic. If they say look west, look west
✕Don't
  • Wait for the medic to ask
  • Give up while the medic is on the way
  • Talk over the medic during the revive
