Bleeding, bandages & reviving

Every player has bandages, and every player can revive. Knowing how the medical system works keeps you, and your squad, alive longer.

Revives in a game ≈ the ticket value of a tank
  • You start bleeding when you’re under 75% health and take more than 10% damage, or whenever you take more than 35% damage in one go (except falls and drowning).
  • While you bleed, your vision, aim and stamina recovery get steadily worse. Bleed long enough and you go down.
  • Bleeding is slower than it feels: 10% health every 30 seconds.
✓Do
  • Shoot back and win the gunfight
  • Find cover if you don’t know where the shots came from
  • Bandage once the fight is won, or when there’s nothing better to do
✕Don't
  • Sit still in the open applying a bandage mid-gunfight. The bleeding won’t kill you; the enemy will.
  • Bandages stop bleeding and revive downed players.
  • Resupply them like ammo: from ammo crates, vehicles and riflemen’s ammo bags (5 ammo each).
  • When you respawn, you get bandages back: at least 1 for most kits if you ran out, and medics always come back with at least 3.

Bandage yourself 7.5 s 7.5 s
Revive 7.5–9.5 s ~17.5–20 s

It’s often better to bandage a teammate than have them do it themselves, especially under fire. And leave the reviving to medics when you can: they’re more than twice as fast.

  • The medic’s medkit is the only way to regain health (apart from respawning).
  • It never runs out and needs no ammo.
  • A bleeding or downed player needs a bandage first; then the medkit restores health.
  • Several medics healing the same player heal faster.
  • Bandages and medkits make a sound that everyone hears, enemies included.

You can go down from enemy fire and explosives, friendly fire, bleeding out, falls, being run over, barbed wire and mines, and running into helicopter rotors.

When a friendly goes down, a red icon appears over them. The ring around it shows roughly how long they have left. You can see it from 50 m in the world and 200 m on the map, where downed medics, squad leaders and other kits each get their own icon.

✓When you're down
  • Wait. Time spent downed counts towards your respawn timer, so give it at least 30 s if there’s any chance of a revive
  • Tell your squad what killed you and where, and whether it’s safe to revive you
✕Never
  • Press “Call Medic”. It plays a loud sound that tells the enemy you’re alive, where your body is, and that a medic may be coming. Think of it as the “Kill Medic” button.
  • Give up the moment you go down
  • Get within 1–3 m and crouch. Once the revive animation starts, you can move a little further away.
  • A revived player gets a grey screen: the “dead-dead” state.
After a revive
  1. 1Grey screen

Blurry black-and-white vision, no stamina regeneration, terrible aim.

  2. 2Any damage = dead

Take any damage in this state and you die outright. No revive.

  3. 3Get healed

It ends after 60 s, or sooner when a medic heals you above ⅔ health.

When the colour comes back you haven’t gained health: you just can be revived again if you go down.

A body is lying where it went down for a reason: whatever killed them may still be watching.

  • Crouch, look at the head or feet, and press F (default) to drag. You can’t grab the arms.
  • Any action except freelook or the map drops the body. Aiming, firing or switching weapons will all do it.
  • Pop smoke and drag them to hard cover, then revive.
  • More than 15–20 m to cover? It’s usually safer to revive on the spot. While you drag, you’re a sitting duck.
  • Drag bodies out of vehicles, emplacements or terrain before reviving, or the revived player may get stuck.
